DKT Through The YearsApril 1990. Population Planning Associates (PPA) was registered as a foreign company with the Securities and Exchange Commission. December 1990. TRUST Quality Condoms (TQC) was launched in the Philippines. Pilot market tests were carried out in the Visayas and Mindanao regions. These tests drew favorable results. June 1991. PPA was amended to DKT International, Inc in its registration. September 1991. Five cash sales vans began operations in Manila. These were used for merchandising, promotion and sales activities. June 1992. Lobbied and obtained BFAD approval to sell condoms to all "legal" outlets (as condoms were previously restricted to pharmacies and medical clinics). This expanded outlet coverage considerably. August 1992. Launched "Kondom Kapers" (KK), a pilot outreach project in Metro Manila, as a street theatre production targeting lower income communities in urban locales. February 1993. A pilot test for the "TRUST Express" condom delivery service was carried out in 1993 in Makati City. This project received considerable press attention and publicity, but ended operations after three 3 months. June 1993. Introduced "Panther", a dotted condoms in the market nationwide. Conducted a co-marketing venture with a local pharmaceutical manufacturer, Pascual Laboratories, for Micropil, a low-dose oral contraceptive pill (OCP). Conducted market test for Micropil in the Luzon region. September 1993. Due to a favorable market response, Micropil distribution was extended to Manila and the rest of Luzon. June 1994. Received funding assistance from the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) to expand KK throughout Metro Manila. Introduced the second variant of Trust Quality Condoms - Strawberry June 1995. Received additional cash grant from AUSAID to expand KK to Cebu and the Visayas. January 1995-2000. Received funding assistance from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), through a sub-contract with Program for Appropriate Technology in Health (PATH) to implement the "AIDS Surveillance and Education Project" (ASEP) in 8 sentinel sites throughout the country. 1995-1997. Received funding from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to conduct reproductive health education and training within the project, "Integrating HIV AIDS Education into Family Planning Clinics Nationwide via Social Marketing Techniques". 1995-2000. Received funding from Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) for the Philippine Social Marketing Program. 1996. Introduced third variant of Trust Quality Condom - Mint. Launched the TRUST Family Program and a new brand of oral contraceptive pill - TRUST Pill. May 1996. Received funding from the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for the purchase of project vehicles for KK. September 1996. Received additional funding from USAID to expand the ASEP project to sites in Cebu, Davao, and lloilo areas. February 14, 1997. Introduced the fourth variant of Trust Quality Condom - Chocolate. December 1997 - 1999. Received funding assistance from the Directorate General for International Cooperation (DGIS Netherlands) to expand the KK activities in the metro areas of Cebu and Davao. 1997. Launched mainstream advertising through all media channels. 1998. Sales operations moved from a single national distributor to 16 regional distributors.
June 1999. Additional funds received from USAID through PATH for the expansion of the ASEP project to include the areas of Zamboanga, General Santos, and Angeles. Received emergency funds from KfW for the additional procurement of TRUST Pill. July 1999. Triple-S Project, a social marketing and distribution effort for curative kits (e.g. condoms, antibiotic, and IEC materials) for symptomatic treatment of STDs in selected areas (Angeles, Quezon City, and Davao) was carried out through funding from USAID through PATH. December 1999. Fully registered as a local Filipino NGO - DKT Philippines, Inc. July 2000. Reached the milestone achievement of having sold the 100 millionth TRUST condom. December 2001. Introduced FRENZY Condoms in three variants: Orange, Banana and Mint. Received funding from KfW for the second phase of the Philippine Social Marketing Program. Revitalized line of condoms was launch: TRUST Classic Regular, TRUST Classic Strawberry and TRUST Classic Chocolate. 2002. Trust PREMIERE condom was launched and targeted specifically to high-end market. March 2002. Received grant from Department for International Development (DFID-United Kingdom) through Population Services International (PSI Asia) for a special project to support a mobile van outreach activities targeting poor urban youth and for product development and launch of a branded lubricant product. July 2002. Another round of funding support was received from David and Lucille Packard Foundation for communication and IEC activities. October 2002. Funding was received from USAID to carry out marketing activities to support targeted contraceptive social marketing program in the Philippines for three years. April 2003. Lady pill, a low-dose oral contraceptive was launched in the market. November 2003. DEPOTRUST, a 3mL DMPA three-month injectable was launched in the market.
